Warm, sunny conditions welcomed the Hillsdale College men's cross country team to 2016's season-opening meet held in East Lansing.

Hillsdale ran shoulder-to-shoulder with strong Division I and Division II programs at the Spartan Invitational. However, due to timing system malfunctions, no official final times for any of the competitors were made available by Michigan State. The only times listed on the results for the men are splits.

Anthony Wondaal was the highest-finishing Charger in the race, just ahead of senior teammate Joseph Newcomb.

Nick Fiene made his Charger cross country debut and came close to his veteran teammates with a split time of 10:10. Sophomore Miles Garn finished his split in 10:31, while Hillsdale's top five was rounded out by Joseph Humes.
