A signature win was turned in for the Hillsdale College men's tennis team Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania.
The Chargers pulled off a 5-4 victory over Mercyhurst College, the No. 3-ranked team in the Atlantic Region. It was easily Hillsdale's biggest win in just its second year of existence, improving the team's record to 2-2 on the season.
Four of Hillsdale's five wins came in the singles flights, as the Chargers' depth showed up when it was needed most.
Emblematic of that depth was the duo of Milan Mirkovic and Julien Clouette. They were the lone winners for Hillsdale in the doubles flight, 8-1. Mirkovic picked up a key win for the Chargers at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Sophomore Justin Hyman also won at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Junior Dugan Delp was a 7-5, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles, and John Ciraci earned a 7-5, 3-0 (ret.) victory at No. 6 singles, helping to clinch the big win for the team.
