The Hillsdale College men's tennis team has hit its stride, and is enjoying its longest winning streak and best record in its brief new era.
The Chargers won for the third time in a row, 9-0, over Spring Arbor University at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center Tuesday afternoon. The win pushes Hillsdale above the .500 mark later than it ever has since it returned as a program. The Chargers stand at 7-6 on the season.
All six of Hillsdale's wins in the singles flights came in straight sets, and just one of the 12 sets had a score of higher than 6-2.
Sophomore Justin Hyman continued his winning streak in dominant fashion, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Freshman Charlie Adams earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, while Dugan Delp was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 3.
John Ciraci picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Julien Clouette was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 5 singles, and Jerry Hewitt finished off the sweep with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
Hyman and Adams picked up an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while Ciraci and Delp pitched an 8-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles. Clouette teamed up with Hewitt for an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
