The Charger men's basketball team shot a warm 62 percent from the floor in another strong offensive game, winning its Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener in West Virginia Thursday night.

Hillsdale has had trouble with Alderson Broaddus in the two-plus years they've been members of the G-MAC, but the Chargers had their way in this one, winning 91-68 in Philippi, Hillsdale's first win in AB's home arena. The win makes Hillsdale 4-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Starters Patrick Cartier, Austen Yarian and Davis Larson combined to shoot 65 percent from the floor, leading the way for a very efficient offense.

Four players hit double figures in scoring, led by freshman forward Patrick Cartier, who had 18 points and 7 rebounds, going 9-for-12 from the floor. Junior Davis Larson tacked on 17 points, 3 rebounds and 8 assists. Yarian hit a new season-high in scoring with 16 on 7-for-11 shooting from the field. Senior guard Dylan Lowry was steady as usual with 14 points and 4 assists.

Hillsdale was consistent and productive in each half, leading the Battlers by 11 at halftime, and holding a 12-point edge in the second half. The Chargers also turned the ball over just seven times, that efficiency adding to the good showing on offense in the contest.
