On September 16-17, the Hillsdale College shotgun team competed in the 2023 Spandau Oktoberfest Classic, an open international-style competition held at Hillsdale's own John Halter Shooting Sports Education Center. The match consisted of either 125 Bunker or International Skeet targets and 47 competitors from across the country took part.

All four Chargers competitors in Skeet made finals with the biggest standout being freshman Madeline Corbin. Breaking 120/125 targets, Corbin tied for the third highest score of any competitor and participated in the Open Finals where she finished in 4^th place. Sophomore Jordan Sapp (118/125) missed the Open Final by just a single target but was in the Junior Final where he finished fourth. Junior Kyle Fleck and sophomore Davis Hay also made the Junior Final after breaking 115 and 112 targets and finished third and fifth in the Junior Final respectively.

Senior Ida Brown broke 106/125 trap targets, tying her for 3^rd Women's HOA and earning her a spot in the Women's Final where she finished 5^th. Just a few targets behind, freshman Ava Downs (103) ended up fourth in the Women's Final. Freshman Luke Johnson and sophomore Leif Andersen both participated in the Junior Final. Andersen went out in the 6^th position, but Johnson, in his first ever Bunker competition, took first place with an impressive 23/25 in the back half.

The Chargers compete in the final stop of the Michigan Sporting Clays Association Spartan Series on September 23^rd. They will look to keep the momentum in the international disciplines going into the ACUI/SCTP International National Championship on October 4^th and 5^th.
