Three Chargers Selected to USA Shooting Open and Junior Teams

Eleven members of the Hillsdale College Shotgun Team traveled to Tucson Trap & Skeet to compete in the 2025 USA Shooting Fall Selection Match. The event, shot from November 17-21 in Tucson, AZ, selected athletes that will represent the United States in ISSF World Cups and the 2026 Junior World Championships.

Madeline Corbin was the top Charger in International Skeet, breaking 236 out of 250 targets. She qualified for both the Open Women's and Junior Women's finals in the 5th and 2nd spots respectively and took 1st place Junior Woman and 1st place Collegiate. In Men's Skeet, Davis Hay (233/250), Zach Hinze (230/250), and Luke Johnson (229/250) all made the Junior final. Hay finished 2nd and earned 2nd in Collegiate. Kyle Fleck (231/250) took 3rd place Collegiate, completing the podium sweep for the Chargers.

In International Trap, Taylor Dale led the way for Hillsdale with a total score of 224/250. Dale and Ava Downs (214/250) each earned a spot in the Open Women's and Junior Women's finals. Dale and Downs took 1st and 2nd respectively in Junior Women while Downs had a spectacular finals performance leading to 3rd Open Women. Dale also earned 3rd place Collegiate. Marin McKinney (202/250) also qualified for the Junior Women's final.

"The team performed well the entire week across conditions including dark, rain, and wind," said head coach Jordan Hintz. "Everyone we brought down either made a final, earned a medal, or set themselves up great for the next selection match."

Dale, Downs, and Corbin were each selected to both the Open and Junior Women's National Teams. They earned the opportunity to shoot with Team USA internationally in 2026, including the ISSF Junior World Championships in Suhl, Germany.

The Chargers now break for the winter and look ahead to the ACUI/SCTP Collegiate Clay Target Championships held in San Antonio, TX in March.
