Chargers wrap up fall competition at home NSCA Shoot

On November 8th, the Chargers competed in their last event of the Fall semester as a full team, an NSCA-registered sporting clays shoot at Hillsdale College's own Halter Shooting Sports Education Center. The event was open to any NSCA member and featured 55 total competitors shooting 100 sporting clays, 50 super sporting, and 50 5-Stand.

Junior Madeline Corbin broke 92/100 targets to lead the team in the Sporting Clays event. She finished first in A Class as well as the top Lady and Junior finisher. Junior Luke Johnson and freshman Zach Hinze each hit 91 targets and finished 3rd in A Class and 1st in B Class respectively. Freshman David Texas Ardis and senior Davis Hay scored 89 and 88 targets to each win Master Class and AA Class.

Hay and Ardis again shot the same score in the Super Sporting, their 48s earning them first in AA and Master Class respectively as well as first and 2nd Junior. Hinze was just a target behind to also win B Class and 3rd Junior in this event. Freshman Max Versluys' 46 won the top honor in A Class and sophomore Lucci Kern finished in 1st place for the Lady category.

Ardis finished the match strong with a perfect 50/50 in 5-Stand, the only one of the match. He took top honors as a Junior and in Master Class. Senior Leif Andersen broke 46 targets to win AA Class. 2nd place Junior and first in A Class went to Versluys with a total score of 48. Sophomore Taylor Dale ended as first place in B Class and first place Lady.

"Overall and across the entire team, this was our strongest showing of the Fall in the Sporting disciplines," said head coach Jordan Hintz. "It's a phenomenal way to end the semester."

Eleven Chargers next travel to Tucson, AZ to compete in the USA Shooting Selection Match from November 17th through 22nd. This shoot selects athletes that will travel internationally to ISSF World Cups in 2026.
