The Hillsdale College women swimming team came up short in a tough dual meet against host Wayne State University in Detroit on Saturday, but had some strong individual accomplishments despite the loss.
Senior
Megan Clifford continued a strong early start to the 2024-25 campaign by winning her specialty event, the 200 butterfly, for the second straight meet in 2:06.97. Clifford, a two-time All-American for the Chargers, also took second in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.51 and teamed with
Lucia Ruchti,
Ella Schafer and
Elise Mason to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:41.39.
Schafer and Mason also had strong meets for the Chargers.  A freshman, Schafer also took first in the 100 freestyle in 54.96, and placed third in the 50 freestyle as well in 25.76. Mason, meanwhile, took runner-up in both the 500 freestyle (5:19.89) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:50.46) as well for Hillsdale.
The Chargers put together a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 breaststroke, with
Lauren Kamp taking first in 2:32.50,
Emmalyse Dickhudt placing second in 2:46.25 and
Rotem Andegeko taking third in 2:58.30.
Joanna Burnham also placed third in the 200 IM (2:15.91) as well for Hillsdale, which next competes at the Bethel Invite on Saturday, Oct. 26.
