USA Shooting, the governing body for Olympic shooting in the United States, hosted its National Championship at Hillsdale College's own Halter Center from September 11
th through the 22
nd. The event featured 250 targets of both International Trap and International Skeet and was the first part of the selection for World Cup travel teams.

A trio of Chargers women found success in the International Trap portion of the competition. Freshman
Taylor Dale broke the best score of any Hillsdale athlete in attendance, 223/250, which earned her not only the Junior Women's National Champion title, but also a bronze medal in the Open Women's category. Sophomore
Ava Downs' score of 217 earned her 3
rd for Junior Women. Junior
Sophia Bultema earned 3
rd in the Para Trap category as well.

Five Hillsdale athletes medaled in the International Skeet portion of the match: junior
Jordan Sapp, senior
Joshua Corbin, senior
Kyle Fleck, junior
Davis Hay, and sophomore
Madeline Corbin. Sapp hit the most targets of the five with 239 out of 250. He took home a bronze medal in the Junior Men category. Hillsdale swept the College Men's category with Fleck, just one target behind Sapp, in first,
Joshua Corbin (233) taking silver, and Hay (227) earning bronze.
Madeline Corbin's 234/250 earned her gold for Junior Women.

The weekend following the USA Shooting match, the Halter Center hosted the ACUI/SCTP Collegiate International National Championship. Hillsdale dominated the 125-target event, taking Team National Championships in both International Trap and International Skeet.

The Chargers won International Trap by 19 targets over second place University of the Ozarks and third place University of Tennessee Knoxville. Individually, sophomore
Luke Johnson was the top scoring competitor with 110 out of 125 targets broken, earning him a gold medal. Dale (106) was the gold medalist in Women's Trap while senior
Jessica Strasser (102) earned bronze and was selected to the SCTP International Team.

Hillsdale took 1
st place in International Skeet by a whopping 77 targets over University of Ozarks. Fleck led the field after breaking 117/125 targets with Hay just a single target behind. They earned gold and silver medals respectively. Johnson took the bronze medal individually and rounded out the Chargers' 3-man team score to earn selection to SCTP's International Team. Strasser also found success, taking 1
st in Women's Skeet.

The next international-style competition that the Chargers will compete in will be the USA Shooting Selection match at the end of January in West Palm Beach, FL.
