Chargers down Cedarville on the road, 7-0, to remain unbeaten in G-MAC play

Box Score

The Hillsdale College men's tennis team rolled to its third straight victory and its fifth in six matches, sweeping host Cedarville 7-0 in a road contest on Friday afternoon.

Hillsdale seized the initiative early in a hotly contested doubles point, taking a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles thanks to senior Tyler Conrad and freshman Ellis Klanduch, and clinching the point with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles by senior Daniel Gilbert and freshman Henry Hammond.

Buoyed by the momentum of that doubles victory, Hillsdale put the match away by sweeping every single singles flight. Sophomore Aidan Pack led the way with a big win over Cedarville's Nathan Hollis, triumphing in a first set tiebreak and taking the second set 7-5 to secure an important victory.

Conrad also pulled out an impressive three set victory at No. 2 singles for the Chargers, rallying from a first-set loss to win 6-3, 6-4 in the final two sets over Cedarville's Nathan Brumbaugh.

Senior Sean Barstow didn't drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Cedarville's Penn Morrison at No. 3 singles as well for the Chargers, Hammond took a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Cedarville's Roberto Esquivel at No. 4 singles, Klanduch won 6-2, 6-0 over Cedarville's Abraham Hougland at No. 5 singles, and Glibert completed the clean sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Cedarville's Jacob Durham at No. 6 singles.

Hillsdale improves to 8-6 overall, 3-0 in G-MAC play and will play again tomorrow with another big road match at Ashland beginning at 1 p.m.
