Hillsdale's sophomore women's cross country phenom is headed back to Kenosha, Wisconsin to compete on the national stage.
Allison Kuzma was one of 26 individual qualifiers selected to join the field for the upcoming 2025 NCAA DII Women's Cross Country Championship, scheduled to take place at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course on Saturday, Nov. 26.
It's Kuzma's first time at a cross country national meet, as the sophomore earned her spot with an impressive runner-up finish behind defending NCAA DII national champion Lauren Kiley of Grand Valley State at the NCAA DII Midwest Regional this past Saturday, also contested at the Wayne E. Dannehl Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Kuzma's regional runner-up finish was the latest accomplishment in an impressive season to date, as the sophomore from Zeeland, Michigan also captured the 2025 G-MAC Championship as an individual by outkicking Walsh's Claire Rethman, then ranked third in the nation as an individual, to the finish line for the title.
While Kuzma is making her first trip to cross country nationals, she's no stranger to national-level competition after a strong freshman season for the Chargers in track and field. Kuzma won G-MAC titles as a freshman in the indoor 5,000m run and the outdoor 10,000m run, and burst on to the national scene at the 2025 NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field championships with a stunning third-place finish in the nation in the 10,000m run to earn her first All-American honor.
She'll be looking to add another All-American recognition on Nov. 22 with a top 30 finish at the national meet, where she'll be able to leverage her knowledge and recent experience of the course. Kuzma currently ranks eighth in the nation individually according to FloTrack, and based on her pair of victories over fifth-ranked Rethman and the close race she gave top-ranked Kiley, she can't be counted out as a potential dark horse national title contender, either.Â
If Kuzma achieves All-American honors, she would join another recent Hillsdale runner, two-time All-American Liz Wamsley on the list of all-time cross country greats at Hillsdale. She would become the 19th women's cross country All-American in program history as well.
The race is set to take place at 11 a.m. on Nov. 22, and will be livestreamed on
