Already an All-American in track and field, sophomore
Allison Kuzma added another honor to her mantle by placing nationally in cross country on Saturday.
Kuzma finished 13th in the nation at the NCAA DII Women's Cross Country championships, held on Saturday at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The finish earned her All-American honors for 2025, joining a long list of Charger greats in accomplishing the feat.Â
A top contender coming in, Kuzma was in 20th place two kilometers into the 6K race, but steadily gained ground over the back half of the run, passing four competitors in the final two kilometers alone to move into 13th place at the finish. Kuzma crossed the line in 20:38.7, a new personal best for a cross country 6K. The sophomore was one of just three individual qualifiers to the national meet to earn All-American honors, and one of just three G-MAC runners to receive the distinction.Â
In a note that bodes well for the future, Kuzma was the second highest finishing runner in the sophomore or freshman class in the meet. Nine of the 12 runners who finished ahead of her on Saturday were seniors, putting her on the short list to potentially contend for even bigger things in 2026.
First, however, Kuzma will transition into the indoor track and field campaign this winter. After a short break, expect to see the sophomore competing with her teammates in January, with an eye towards making her first career trip to the NCAA DII Indoor Track and Field championships in March and potentially adding more All-American honors.
