The Hillsdale College women's swimming and diving team capped a two-meet weekend with its only home event of the 2025-26 campaign on Saturday.
The Chargers' lone home meet was a great success, as Hillsdale celebrated graduating senior
Rotem Andegeko with wins in nine of 11 contested swimming events and victories over both visiting foes, 149-73 over Aquinas and 150-73 over Indiana Wesleyan.
Freshmen continued to lead the way for the Chargers with another huge day in the pool, as
Sasha Babenko and
Avery May each won two events and a relay.
Babenko bettered her previous best time in the 200 backstroke to win in 2:08.38, the seventh fastest time in the event in program history, and also won the 200 individual medley in 2:13.22, while also teaming with
Lauren Kamp,
Ella Malone and
Ella Schafer to win the 200 medley relay in 1:50.80.
May, meanwhile, won the 200 freestyle in 1:59.27 for the Chargers, led a 1-2-3 finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:17.47, and also was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay with
Alyson Early,
Rylee Harris and
Inez McNichols in 1:41.84.
Schafer also had a strong day for the Chargers, pairing her 200 medley relay win with a victory in the 100 freestyle (53.80) and a runner-up finish in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.44, while freshman
Rylee Harris added a victory in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:20.59 to her 200 freestyle relay victory, and freshman
Kate Potwardowski won the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.26.
Isabel Ondracek was runner-up in the 200 freestyle (2:00.25) and the 500 freestyle (5:27.88) for Hillsdale, Irene Del Castro took second in the 1,000 freestyle (11:28.22) for the Chargers, and
Olivia Leathers finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:17.22).
Along with relay victories, Hillsdale's
Ella Malone placed third in the 50 freestyle (25.60), McNichols took third in the 200 butterfly (2:17.71), Early took third in the 500 freestyle (5:38.33), and Kamp took third in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.63).
Sasha Alles finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:19.08) as well for the Chargers.
Hillsdale hits the road next week for another double-dual, as the Chargers travel to Findlay to take on their G-MAC rivals and Lewis at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
