The Hillsdale College volleyball team played an inspired match on Senior Day on Saturday, dominating visiting Malone from start to finish in a 25-15, 25-14, 25-13 sweep in their final regular season home match of 2025.
The Chargers completely defanged the Pioneers offense, surrendering just 21 kills on .093 hitting, and only trailed twice in the match, both times early in sets two and three and never by more than two points.
Hillsdale also played a strong offensive match, hitting .286 with 45 kills, while also adding in nine service aces to seize control quickly.
In what could be the final home match of her career, senior
Emory Braswell shined, hitting .444 with 14 kills to lead the Chargers offensively. Fellow senior
Adi Sysum added seven kills and
Molly Kennedy chipped in five kills and two solo blocks as well for Hillsdale offensively.
Senior
Chloe Pierce led the Chargers defensively with eight digs, and senior
Josie TeSlaa led the Chargers in assists with 24. Freshman
Madison Peal served up four aces for the Chargers, and freshman
Grace Drake added two aces and 11 assists.
Hillsdale celebrated its four seniors -- Braswell, Sysum, Pierce and TeSlaa --Â not just with a victory but also with a postgame ceremony honoring their contributions to the program.
The Chargers improve to 12-10 overall and 10-3 in the G-MAC with the victory, and kept hopes alive of getting at least one more match in Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena in 2025. The Chargers are still in contention for a top four finish in the standings and hosting rights for a quarterfinal match in the upcoming G-MAC Tournament.
Hillsdale has two more regular season matches remaining and likely will need to win both to grab a top four spot. The Chargers travel to Tiffin on Friday before wrapping up the 2025 regular season with a road match at G-MAC co-leader Findlay next Saturday.
