The Hillsdale College women's track and field team showed its readiness for championship season with a strong performance at its own home Tune-Up Invitational on Friday.
The Chargers won 10 events with some strong performances leading into the G-MAC Championship meet at Ashland next weekend.
Hillsdale had strong performances on the track, as junior
Anna Lamoreaux took first in both the 60 and 200 meter dashes with new personal bests -- 8.02 in the 60 and 25.95 in the 200. In the latter race, Lamoreaux just edged teammate
Francesca Federici, who placed second in 25.97.
Evelyn Overlease won the 400m dash for the Chargers in 1:01.50, with
Lucia Wilson taking third in 1:01.90 as well, and
Ameera Wilson won the 800m run in 2:33.12.
In the mile,
Victoria Stonebraker ran a 5:31.83 to take the victory for Hillsdale.
The Chargers'
Baelyn Zitzmann won an event on the track and in the field, taking first in the 60m hurdles with a new personal best of 9.24, and winning the high jump with a mark of 1.67 meters. Teammate
Reagan Dahlquist cleared 1.62 meters in the high jump to finish runner-up behind Zitzmann.
Hillsdale also went 1-2 in the pole vault with
Tara Townsend winning with a clearance of 3.87 meters and
Katie Clifford placing second with a mark of 3.47 meters.Â

Katie Kennedy won the long jump, tying her personal best with a mark of 5.21 meters, and teammate
Gianna Lodice placed second with a mark of 5.05 meters. Kennedy also took second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.69 meters, behind event winner
Grace Chen and her top mark of 10.75 meters.
In the throws,
Katie Sayles placed second for the Chargers in the weight throw with a time of 17.47 meters, and third in the shot put with a mark of 13.05 meters.
Olivia Newsome placed third in the weight throw as well in 17.32 meters.
Hillsdale now turns its focus to the G-MAC Indoor Championships, hosted by Ashland on Friday, Feb. 28 and stretching over two days. The Chargers are looking to improve on a third place finish from 2024 and contend for the team title, and should have several contenders for individual conference titles as well.
