Playing on the road against one of the top teams in the G-MAC standings, the Hillsdale College men's basketball team never found its rhythm offensively in a 79-58 loss at Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday.
The Chargers shot just 37.9% from the floor and 5 of 20 from 3-point range, falling behind early and trailing 36-26 at the half.
Hillsdale got off to a decent start in the second half, cutting the deficit to six on a layup by
Charles Woodhams with 17:18 to play, but that was as close as the Chargers would get as Kentucky Wesleyan stretched the lead back out to double digits two minutes later, and then pulled away for good.
Four players finished in double figures for the Chargers, led by C.J. Yarian, who nearly had a double-double off the bench with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists
Joe Reuter chipped in 11 points and four rebounds for the Chargers,
Charles Woodhams also flirted with a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, and
Ashton Janowski added 10 points as well for the Chargers.
Hillsdale falls to 16-7 overall, 10-5 in the G-MAC and will try to right the ship on Thursday, when the Chargers finish a long road trip with a contest at Tiffin at 7:30 p.m.
