The outdoor track and field season is underway for the Hillsdale College women as the program kicked off the 2025 campaign at two separate meets on Friday.

The Chargers took a small contingent of throwers to the Blizzard Buster Invite hosted by Miami University of Ohio, and that group got off to a solid start to the season, led by senior Katie Sayles.

Sayles, fresh off competing at the 2025 NCAA DII Indoor Championships in the weight throw, recorded two top five finishes on Friday, placing third in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 51.55 meters, and fifth in the shot put with a mark of 12.07 meters. Senior Juliet Bernard was right behind Sayles in the weight throw, placing fourth with a mark of 51.37 meters.

Freshman Olivia Newsome recorded two personal bests for the Chargers at the Blizzard Buster, placing seventh in the discus with a mark of 38.55 meters, and taking eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.53 meters. Sophomore Regan Wight also set a new personal best in the hammer, finishing just ahead of Newsome in seventh place with a mark of 46.68 meters.

Mackenzie Morrison took 13th in both the shot put (10.30m) and discus (34.75m) as well for Hillsdale.

While the throwers opened the season in Ohio, senior Reese Dragovich went further south looking for warm weather, all the way to Boone, North Carolina to compete in the 800m run at the Mountaineer First Chance Invite hosted by Appalachian State. Dragovich took first in the invite section of the 800m run in a fast time of 2:12.11, just shy of a provisional qualifying mark in the event. 

The outdoor season kicks into gear next week for the Charger men, as Hillsdale sends some of its top athletes down to Austin to compete against an elite national field in the Texas Relays, while the team sends the bulk of its athletes to Tiffin, Ohio on Saturday at the Tiffelberg Invite.
