As Hillsdale prepares for one of the biggest meets on its schedule next weekend, the Chargers got a tune-up race in at the Siena Heights Invite on Friday afternoon in nearby Adrian.
The Chargers ran a partial squad, with several runners choosing to rest for the critical Louisville Classic on Oct. 4, but still took fifth as a team in the race thanks to strong pack running.
Senior
Emil Schlueter led a tight pack for the Chargers, placing 25th in 26:53.7 in the 8K race. Three more Hillsdale runners, all freshmen, crossed the finish line within two seconds of Schlueter, as
Jefferson Regitz placed 26th in 26:53.9, John Richarson took 27th in 26:54.2 and
Henry Thuet placed 30th in 26:55.0, a new collegiate best.
Sophomore
Daniel Johnson rounded out Hillsdale's scoring runners with a 37th place finish in a new collegiate-best time of 27:02.4, with sophomores
Thomas Holm taking 38th in 27:08.9 and
Will Winsor 39th in 27:09.3 as well.Â
Next up for the Chargers is the already-mentioned Louisville Classic, this coming Saturday, a loaded race with top teams from all NCAA Divisions and from all corners of the country. It's also Hillsdale's final tune-up before the G-MAC Championship meet, hosted by Northwood on Oct. 25.
