Over 150 athletes, both collegiate and high school, traveled to Hillsdale College's Halter Shooting Sports Education Center on February 21
st to compete in the annual Hillsdale College Shotgun Invitational. Sub-freezing temperatures, tough lighting, and wind made for a challenging day of competition, but the Chargers came out on top.

Hillsdale swept the individual podium in Trap Doubles led by a perfect 100/100 by freshman
Roman Barrett. 2
nd place in the men's category went to senior
Leif Andersen (95/100) with junior
Luke Johnson (95/100) earning 3
rd after a shoot-off. Sophomore
Lucci Kern finished as Women's 1
st (93/100) with sophomore
Marin McKinney (90/100) and sophomore
Taylor Dale (87/100) taking 2
nd and 3
rd respectively. The 5
th score to contribute to Hillsdale's 474/500 was senior
Davis Hay (91/100). 2
nd place team went to Grace College and 3
rd to Purdue.

Hillsdale's best event of the day was Skeet Doubles. Posting a phenomenal 246/250, the Chargers took 1
st place team ahead of Olivet and Purdue. Hay had the only perfect 50/50 of the match and earned Men's 1
st place. After a 4-way shootoff, freshman
Max Versluys earned Men's 2
nd (49/50) and Johnson (49/50) finished 3
rd. Also breaking 49 targets and winning 1
st place among the women was junior
Madeline Corbin. Women's 3
rd went to Dale (45/50). Senior
Kyle Fleck (49/50) also contributed a score to the team.

The Chargers broke 242 out of a possible 250 targets in American Trap. Dale (49/50), junior
Alex Hoffman (49/50), freshman
Zach Hinze (48/50), Hay (48/50), and both Kern and McKinney (48/50) were a part of the team score. Dale earned Women's 1
st, Hoffman took Men's 3
rd, and Kern and McKinney finished 2
nd and 3
rd in the women's category respectively after a shoot-off. Hillsdale took 2
nd place in the event, just 1 target behind the University of Olivet and 8 targets ahead of Purdue.

st place team in 5-Stand (136/150) ahead of 2
nd place Grace College (115/150) and Olivet in 3
rd (106/150). Chargers swept the podium individually. After a shoot-off, Hinze (28/30) was awarded the Men's gold and freshman
David Texas Ardis (28/30) took 2
nd. 3
rd went to Johnson with a 27/30. Dale (27/30), McKinney (26/30), and Corbin (25/30) took 1
st, 2
nd, and 3
rd respectively in the Women's category.

With a total score of 1098/1150, the Chargers earned 1
st place Team High Overall ahead of 2
nd place Grace (936/1150) and 3
rd Olivet (930/1150). Individually, Hillsdale athletes swept the HOA podium on both the men's and women's side. Johnson (217/230) led the way with Barrett (214/230) and Hay (213/230) just behind. For Women, Dale (208/230), McKinney (206/230), and Kern (201/230) finished 1
st-3
rd.

The Chargers next travel to the World Shooting and Recreation Complex in Sparta, IL to compete in the ACUI/SCTP Spring Central Midwest Conference Championship. They shoot from February 27 through March 1
st. They will then head to San Antonio, TX for the ACUI/SCTP Collegiate Clay Target Championships from March 16-21.
