2026 D2CCA All-Midwest Region Teams
On a team loaded with offensive weapons and power bats, sophomore
Olivia Liguori stood out for the Hillsdale College softball squad in 2026.
The rest of the region took notice, as Liguori earned her first career All-Midwest Region honor on Monday with second-team recognition from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association as a catcher.
The D2CCA Softball All-Region teams are selected by a vote of sports information directors from schools across the Midwest Region. All candidates are nominated by their respective SIDs and two teams are selected from the pool of candidates for each region.
Liguori built on a strong freshman campaign that saw her earn second team All-G-MAC honors with an even better season in 2026, posting better numbers across the board and earning first team recognition in all-conference voting. The sophomore from Bartlett, Illinois was an elite offensive catcher for the Chargers, starting 50 games and leading Hillsdale in OPS with an elite 1.033 mark. A strong hitter for average as a freshman, Liguori took a big step forward in power hitting for the Chargers in her second season, finishing with nine doubles, a triple and 10 home runs while driving in 33 runs. Liguori's home run mark was second on the team and tied for the sixth most in a single season in Hillsdale College history.
Pairing with senior
Maggie Olaveson and sophomore
Nathalie Hagle, Liguori was a key piece of a murderer's row of home run hitters for the Chargers in the middle of the lineup that helped the Chargers shatter the program's single season home run record with 48, and fueled a sixth-consecutive season of 30 or more wins for Hillsdale.Â
While Liguori's power numbers were impressive, she was far from a one-dimensional player, with an OBP of .399, and nine stolen bases, while playing strong defense behind the plate for the Chargers as well.
Liguori joins teammate and fellow sophomores
Ronnie Craft and
Nathalie Hagle in earning All-Region honors. Both Craft and Hagle were recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Friday. With three All-Region players and two additional All-G-MAC players slated to return in 2027, Liguori will be a major part of a strong core as Hillsdale aims to duplicate its potency at the plate next season.
