Chargers Blank the Storm

October 13, 2012 - With each win, the Hillsdale College women's tennis team moves up in the GLIAC standings, and closer to postseason play.

The Chargers won for the sixth straight time, and eighth time in its past nine matches, with a 9-0 blanking of Lake Erie College Saturday afternoon in Painesville, Ohio. Hillsdale now sits in fifth place in the conference and is 8-4 on the season.

Hillsdale won each of its matches in decisive fashion over the winless Storm. Morgan Linden produced her most lopsided win of her career at No. 6 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Rachel Blaauw was victorious at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2, and teamed up with freshman Shannon O'Hearn (pictured) for an 8-0 blanking at No. 3 doubles.

Senior Brittany Parks also turned in a love-love win at No. 1 singles, while sisters Morgan Delp (No. 2 singles) and Sydney Delp (No. 3 singles) each dropped only one set in their respective victories. 

Freshman Lindsay Peirce was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 4 singles, and joined Sydney Delp in putting together an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Morgan Delp and Parks were victorious, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles.
