Just like Friday, the Charger women's tennis team came away with a 6-3 victory Saturday, but this time over a different Upper Peninsula foe.
Hillsdale toppled the Lake Superior State University Lakers in Sault Ste. Marie to improve its record to 4-5 overall and in the GLIAC. Hillsdale will try to complete a perfect weekend on the court at Saginaw Valley State University Sunday.
After coming out on the losing end of their matches Friday, Morgan and Sydney Delp were both victorious in singles and doubles flights against the Lakers. Morgan Delp dominated the first and third sets in her three-set victory, 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Sydney Delp won a marathon of a match, 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (5-7), 10-7. Two tiebreakers in the same match are fairly rare at any level, but Delp stepped up to this challenge and won a key match for her team at No. 2 singles.
Sophomore Lindsay Peirce won for the second straight day at No. 4 singles, winning a long match of her own 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. Hillsdale won two additional matches by forfeit.
