March 29, 2013 - Tiffin University quieted the bats of the Hillsdale College softball team in a Friday afternoon GLIAC matchup in Ohio.
The Chargers scored just one run in losing games by scores of 8-0 and 5-1. Hillsdale is now 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the GLIAC, and the team will take on Ohio Dominican Saturday in Columbus.
Hillsdale scratched out just three hits in the first game, coming off the bats of Ainsley Ellison, Taylor Schulty and Jessica Day. Schulty also stole a base in the game.
Tiffin exploded for seven runs in the third inning, triggering the run-rule scenario after the top of the fifth inning.
In game two, the Dragons outhit the Chargers 13-3. Pitcher Katie Ardrey shut the Dragons out through the first four innings before Tiffin got on the board.
Freshman Danielle Garceau had two hits in the nightcap for the Chargers, and drove in the only run of the day. Freshman Sarah Grunert had a hit and scored a run in the game.
