Cardinals Top Chargers in Home Finale

Box Score

It was a bittersweet Sunday at Hillsdale College, as an era came to an end for the Charger women's tennis program.

It was the final match ever to be played on the current outdoor courts, located south of the football stadium, and it was the final home match in the distinguished career of senior Morgan Delp.

Although Delp enjoyed a great last day on her home court, Hillsdale fell to visiting Saginaw Valley State University 5-4 to drop to 3-8 on the season.

Brand-new outdoor courts are currently under construction on Hillsdale College's campus. The new courts will be located along Union Street, one block north of the current location of the outdoor courts. The new courts will be ready to play by the time the Fall 2015 season gets underway.

Morgan Delp, along with her sister Sydney, won a hard-fought match at No. 1 doubles, 9-8. The team was down 7-6 at one point, but battled back and dominated the final two sets of the match.

At No. 1 singles, Morgan Delp also staged a comeback, winning in three sets after losing the first. Her final home match will go down as a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Sydney Delp cruised to a win at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1, while junior Lindsay Peirce also won a straight sets match, 6-3, 6-0.
