Tennis Team Gets a Homecoming to Enjoy

The first event to kick off a busy Homecoming Saturday was the Hillsdale College women's tennis team, taking on Lake Superior State University.

The ladies did their part to make it a happpy Homecoming.

After resting last weekend, the Chargers came back and played well, defeating the Lakers 8-1 at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center. The team stays home Sunday, hosting Michigan Tech at 11 a.m.

Hillsdale won three decisive matches in doubles, and took home victories at Nos. 2-6 singles.

Junior Sydney Delp came back from a 2-6 loss in the second set to win at No. 2 singles in three sets. 

Junior Lindsay Peirce was dominant at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Her doubles partner, Dana Grace Buck, nearly matched Peirce's performance, winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

No. 3 doubles partners Jada Bissett and Rachel Blaauw each shut out their opponents, winning their matches by idential 6-0, 6-0 scores. In doubles, they breezed to an 8-1 win.

Buck and Peirce won their match 8-1 at No. 2 doubles, while Sydney and Morgan Delp took home an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, nicely getting back on the winning track.
