The Charger women's tennis team competed at home for the first time in the spring season Friday afternoon, but came away still in search of its first win of this part of the campaign.
Hillsdale College lost a 7-2 decision to Davenport University, ranked 25th in the nation in the NAIA. Hillsdale is back at home Friday, March 28 against Aquinas.
The Chargers' lone singles winner was sophomore Lindsay Peirce (pictured) who took home a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Peirce had a big hand in both of Hillsdale's wins, teaming up with freshman Dana Grace Buck on an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles over the Panthers.
Several other matches were tight right up to the end. Junior Morgan Delp lost a 6-2, 7-6 (3) battle at No. 2 singles, while she and sister Sydney Delp absorbed a tough 8-6 loss at No. 1 doubles. The most competitive match on the doubles slate came at No. 3, with Hillsdale's Rachel Blaauw and Jada Bissett lost by the narrowest of margins, 9-8 (7).
