The Hillsdale College women's tennis team wrapped up the spring portion of the 2013-14 season on a positive note, defeating Aquinas College 7-2 in a competitive match held at the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center.
There were some one-sided matches to be sure, but the match of the day occured at the No. 2 doubles flight, when sophomores Lindsay Peirce and Shannon O'Hearn gutted out a 9-7 victory over Aquinas' Ariana Kabodian and Marjeanne Bothma. O'Hearn was a late entry into that flight, since freshman Dana Grace Buck was unavailable due to illness, and the sophomore from Toledo stepped up with a tough effort for the Chargers.
Peirce was a 6-3, 6-3 victor at No. 3 singles, and was joined in the win column by freshman Jada Bissett (pictured) who won a marathon three-setter over Bothma (11-9). Sophomore Rachel Blaauw took a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles as well. Blaauw and Bissett took home an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Junior Morgan Delp got into the win column twice, breezing to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, and teamed up with her sister Sydney for an 8-0 shutout at No. 1 doubles.
