Sunday's win over the University of Findlay was a sweet one for the Hillsdale College women's tennis team.
The Chargers have already suffered some close, frustrating losses this season, making the 5-4 win over the Oilers in Findlay that much better for the team. Hillsdale is 2-3 overall and in the GLIAC, and will finally play at home for the first time this season this coming weekend.
One of the most impressive performances of the day came from sophomore Dana Grace Buck, (pictured) who simply dominated her opposition in picking up wins at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles. She breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 win at singles, and joined junior Lindsay Peirce for a decisive 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Buck's wins were crucial, since the No. 1 doubles team of Morgan and Sydney Delp suffered its first loss of the season, 8-3.
The Chargers' depth was key in this win, thanks to wins by Peirce at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-2), Jada Bissett at No. 5 singles (6-4, 6-3) and Rachel Blaauw at No. 6 singles (6-2, 6-1). Peirce went 3-1 in her four weekend matches for Hillsdale.
