Hillsdale College and Walsh University engaged in a marathon women's tennis matchup Saturday that took many hours and moved from outdoors to indoors. In the end, the Chargers suffered a razor-thin 5-4 defeat to the Cavaliers in Canton, Ohio.

Hillsdale, 0-2, wraps up its season-opening three-day trek through Ohio by taking on Ashland Sunday morning.

The duo of sophomore Dana Grace Buck and junior Lindsay Peirce had great efforts on the court, winning their singles matches while teaming up for a dramatic 9-8 (10-8) win at No. 2 doubles.

Buck squared off with Walsh's Alona Skobkina and came away with a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, the longest match in the singles flight on this day.

Peirce breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles to help complete the duo's perfect day.

Junior Sydney Delp and senior Morgan Delp were 8-4 victors at No. 1 doubles to round out Hillsdale's wins on the day.
