A three-day road trip through the state of Ohio ended on a positive note for the Hillsdale College women's tennis team Sunday afternoon.
After absorbing two frustrating losses to Ohio Dominican and Walsh, the Chargers put forth an outstanding effort in defeating Ashland University 8-1. Hillsdale is now 1-2 on the y oung season.
Hillsdale won five of the six singles matches, and didn't drop a set in any of its five wins.
Junior Sydney Delp came through with a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 1 singles, while senior Morgan Delp won at No. 2 singles for the first time this season, pitching a 6-0, 6-0 shutout.
Sophomore Dana Grace Buck finished up an excellent weekend with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles. Junior Lindsay Peirce got back on the winning track with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, while sophomore Jada Bissett won for the first time at singles this season, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
The Delp sisters cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, maintaining their perfect record on the season. Buck and Peirce were 8-3 winners at No. 2 doubles, while Bissett and Rachel Blaauw also won by a score of 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
