Halle Hyman Named GLIAC Freshman of the Year!

2015 All-GLIAC Women's Tennis Release

A glance across all of the Fall season teams playing for Hillsdale College reveals an unusually high number of talented freshmen making their mark for the Chargers.

Sunday afternoon, one of them got some hardware as proof of her abilities.

Freshman women's tennis player Halle Hyman was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in a vote by conference coaches. She was awarded her plaque at the conclusion of the 2015 GLIAC Tournament, held in Midland.

Hyman was also named First-Team All-GLIAC, while senior Sydney Delp earned honorable mention All-GLIAC recognition.

A native of Rochester, Michigan, Hyman stepped into the Charger lineup and immediately grabbed the No. 1 singles position. She finished the fall season with an 8-3 record in singles and went 8-5 while playing in various doubles flights for Hillsdale.

She was named the GLIAC Player of the Week back on October 6, becoming the first Charger to earn a conference weekly honor since Delp did it back in the 2013 season.

Hyman's First-Team All-GLIAC selection is the third in school history after Brittany Parks was a First-Team selection following the 2011 and 2012 seasons. She's the first Charger athlete in any sport to be named GLIAC Freshman of the Year since former volleyball player Ashlee Crowder won that award in 2008.

This was Delp's third all-conference award in her four-year career and second time she's earned honorable mention All-GLIAC honors. She compiled an 8-5 record in singles, and finished the fall on a three-match singles winning streak.
