Hillsdale Flies Through Upper Peninsula Competition

Box Score

Trips through the Upper Peninsula are usually treacherous for many athletic teams in the GLIAC. But for the Hillsdale College women's tennis team, this weekend's trip was memorable.

The Chargers improved to 5-3 on the season with their first 9-0 triumph of the 2015 camapign, over Michigan Tech University in Houghton Sunday afternoon.

Everyone played well for Hillsdale, from the top flights to the bottom. It was Hillsdale's first 9-0 win in conference play since October 12, 2013. No Charger lost a set in the win over the Huskies.

Sydney Delp and Julia Formentin got the team off to a good start with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 doubles team also featured a freshman-senior combination, as Halle Hyman (pictured) and Lindsay Peirce were 8-5 victors. Dana Grace Buck and Corinne prost notched an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.

Hyman won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Prost jumped back into the fray at No. 2 singles and came away with a 7-6, 6-0 win.
