A three-match losing streak came to an end for the Hillsdale College women's tennis team Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers were on top of their game up and down the lineup in an 8-1 victory over Lake Superior State University at the Mary Jane Delp Courts. The win gets Hillsdale back to the .500 mark at 4-4 overall and in the GLIAC.
Leading the charge for Hillsdale was sophomore Halle Hyman, who picked up two wins, both in dominating fashion. She teamed up with freshman Katie Bell for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Later on, Hyman recorded a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, keeping up her strong play of late.
Sophomore Madeline Bissett turned in an impressive performance at No. 3 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0. Bissett and sophomore Julia Formentin were 8-1 victors at No. 3 doubles.
Formentin played a nearly perfect match at No. 6 singles, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 victory, the most decisive win of her career.
Senior Dana Grace Buck pulled out a win in the most competitive singles match of the day, winning 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 singles. She had an easier time of it at No. 2 doubles, teaming up with freshman Kamryn Matthews for an 8-3 win.
Matthews cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 5 singles flight.
