It was a triumphant end to the 2015-16 season for the Hillsdale College women's tennis team Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers played outstanding up and down the lineup in a 9-0 win over Huntington University, finishing the season with a 9-9 overall record. Every singles match was won in decisive straight sets, and all three doubles matches ended in identical 8-2 victories.
Playing the final matches of their careers, seniors Sydney Delp and Lindsay Peirce were both winners. Delp cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles while Peirce was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles.
Freshman Halle Hyman capped a banner season with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Hyman was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year back in the fall.
Junior Dana Grace Buck powered her way to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. Freshmen Madeline Bissett (No. 3 singles) and Julia Formentin (No. 6 singles) also breezed to wins in their flights.
Freshman Corinne Prost teamed up with Delp for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Hyman and Peirce joined forces for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while junior Jada Bissett and Buck also notched an 8-2 win.
