Box Score Senior outfielder Bekah Kastning has been unstoppable at the plate lately. Monday morning, she was rewarded by the GLIAC for her incredible production.
Kastning was named the GLIAC Hitter of the Week for the second time in her career, and first time this season. The award was chosen and announced by the conference office.
In six games in Clermont, Florida last week, Kastning batted .611, getting 11 hits in 18 at bats. In a win over St. Ambrose she hit two doubles, and later went 4-for-4 in a win over St. Francis, her third career four-hit game.
She's the second Hillsdale player to earn a conference award this season, joining freshman pitcher Dana Weidinger.
Kastning is batting .549, 64 points better than any other hitter in the GLIAC, and moved up to No. 3 in Hillsdale's career hits list with 183. She's the first Charger softball player in 20 years to accumulate more than 180 career hits.
A First-Team All-GLIAC and Second-Team All-Region outfielder last year, Kastning hails from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
