Chargers Defeat Findlay, Advance to G-MAC Championship Match

The Hillsdale College women's tennis team won its Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament semifinal match 5-0 over the University of Findlay Friday afternoon in Owensboro. The win puts the Chargers in Saturday's championship match against the winner of the Walsh-Davis & Elkins match.

Conference tournament matches end once a team has mathematically clinched a victory.

Hillsdale won all three doubles matches to get off to a 3-0 lead. Kamryn Matthews and Madeline Bissett notched at 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles. Katie Bell and Corinne Prost were 8-2 winners at No. 2 doubles.

The No. 1 doubles team of Halle Hyman and Hannah Cimpeanu fell behind 3-2, but came back to post an 8-5 win.

Only two singles matches were needed for the Chargers to clinch the victory. Prost ran to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, while Matthews' 6-0, 6-3 win turned out to be the match-clincher.
