Women's Tennis Earns Another 9-0 Victory

There was nothing lucky about the seventh straight win posted by the Hillsdale College women's tennis team.

The Chargers turned in a dominating performance in a 9-0 victory over Alderson Broaddus University Saturday afternoon at the Margot V. Biermann Center. It was the team's fourth straight 9-0 win and seventh straight overall, a new modern record for longest winning streak by a Charger women's tennis team. The victory makes Hillsdale 9-4 overall and 4-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

The tone was set by the doubles teams, who won their matches by a combined score of 24-3. Halle Hyman and Hannah Cimpeanu were 8-2 winners at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Kamryn Matthews and junior Madeline Bissett posted an 8-1 win, while the combo of junior Julia Formentin and sophomore Katie Bell rolled to an 8-0 shutout victory.

Hyman once again won at No. 1 doubles, this time by a score of 6-3, 6-0. The other five singles matches all ended in 6-0, 6-0 wins by the Chargers.

Singles flights winners were as follows: Cimpeanu (No. 2), Bell (No. 3), Matthews (No. 4), Bissett (No. 5) and Formentin (No. 6).
