Hillsdale College to Host Inaugural USPSA Collegiate Championship

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center, in collaboration with Springfield Armory, will host the inaugural United States Practical Shooting Association Collegiate Championship from September 28-29 at the Ailes Action Shooting Range. The event is made possible through the sponsorship of Springfield Armory.

The Collegiate Championship aims to introduce collegiate shooters to USPSA competitions. All collegiate-level shooters are invited to compete in two divisions: limited and open. This Level 1 Match will feature 12 stages of shooting and will conclude with an awards ceremony to honor the top competitors.

Springfield Armory, a key sponsor of this championship, has been a significant supporter of the Hillsdale Action Shooting Team since 2019. Their ongoing support includes providing top-grade pistols and essential equipment, as well as facilitating access to training with top-tier professionals, including 34-time national and eight-time international pistol-shooting champion, Rob Leatham.

"We are proud to support this first Springfield Armory-Hillsdale College USPSA Collegiate Championship Match," said Steve Kramer, vice president of Marketing for Springfield Armory. "There is an incredible amount of talent on the Hillsdale Action Shooting Team, and we've enjoyed watching their growth over the years."

"Springfield Armory's support has helped our team grow into one of the best in the country. By sponsoring this competition, Springfield is investing in the collegiate sport as a whole," said Head Coach Adam Burlew. "This match is the first of its kind. Through it, Springfield is helping to cultivate the next generation of competitive shooters in the region and around the country."

In recent years, Hillsdale College has become a hub of the shooting sports. In addition to housing the Hillsdale College shotgun and action shooting teams, both of which have secured multiple national collegiate championships, the College's John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center has been the home of the U.S. Shooting Team since 2019.
