The Hillsdale College Action Shooting team showed its strength in a tough event this past weekend, with four different shooters earning first place finishes in the Indiana Section match at the North Porter County Conservation Club.
In a highly competitive match with long and complex stages, the Chargers did extremely well overall, especially in the Limited categories. Senior
Joseph Grohs took first in the Limited Optics B Class competition, while freshman Williams Grohs took first in the Limited class. Junior
Clara Bozzay was fifth in the Limited class overall and was the top female finisher in Limited competition, leading a strong showing for the Chargers in that category as Hillsdale took the top four spots with Bozzay first, junior
Jianna Coppola second, senior
Christina Lewis third and freshman
Kathryn Madden fourth.
Junior
Kayla Mullin brought home two titles, winning the Open C Class competition overall and also finishing as the top female competitor in the Open class.Â
Senior Jonah Kirtsein took second in the Limited Optics C Class and senior
Brendan Burnham placed third in the same class to give Hillsdale two more top finishes.
The Chargers have another busy weekend of competition ahead, as several of Hillsdale's shooters will head to the prestigious Memorial Three Gun Staff match in Maxton, North Carolina on Oct. 10-12. Hillsdale also will send a contingent north to Cadillac, Michigan for a USPSA match at the Cadillac Sportsman's Club as well.
