The Hillsdale College women's cross country team put three runners in the top 10 to place a competitive second at the Warrior Challenge on Friday at the Willow Metropark in New Boston, Michigan.
With 55 points, Hillsdale beat ranked NAIA teams Grace and Cornerstone, placing second behind only a top-25 team in NCAA Division II in host Wayne State, who took the meet with 40 points.
Freshman
Evyn Humphrey continued a phenomenal first season with the Chargers by placing second individually, in 22:29.40, with fellow freshman
Allison Kuzma close behind in sixth in 22:46.10. Sophomore
Savannah Fraley also ran a strong race to place in the top 10 for the Chargers, taking ninth in 23:06.20.
Sophomores
Anna Stirton and
Eleanor Clark rounded out Hillsdale's scoring five, with Stirton placing 20th in 23:53.30 and Clark taking 25th in 24:08.00. Senior
Kayla Loescher was right behind Clark in 26th with a time of 24:17.40, and junior
Brynn Edison placed 32nd in 24:31.60 as well.
Hillsdale now heads into two weeks of training before returning to the course on Saturday, Sept. 28, competing in the Lucian Rosa Invite in Kenosha Wisconsin.
