As the Hillsdale College women's basketball team kicks off its 2025-26 campaign in November, the Chargers have simultaneously secured their future with a three-player signing class to reinforce the squad for 2026-27.
The class of Delaney Larson (Manhattan, Kansas/Manhattan), Ella Martin (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central) and Maya Sonday (Keller, Texas/Homeschooled), who all signed their national letters of intent this month, add depth and talent to a Hillsdale roster aiming for big things in coming seasons.
Larson is a skilled combo guard playing in the highest classification of the basketball-mad state of Kansas, in the shadow of Kansas State University. A two-time All-Kansas 6A honoree and an All-Centennial League players both as a sophomore and junior, Larson has played on the varsity all three seasons of high school and been a capable lead guard for Manhattan High, helping the Indians reach the KSHSAA 6A State Quarterfinals as a sophomore in 2024, and win 15 games last season. She also made the Hays City Shootout and Mill Valley Shot Clock Showdown All-Tournament teams.
Also a standout on the travel ball season for Slam, SSA and MoKan, Larson also has excelled in the classroom, earning membership in the National Honor Society and serving as president of the Manhattan chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, while making the honor roll every semester.
Martin is a strong post presence from the Columbus area in Ohio, starring at Westerville Central while helping the Hawks win the Ohio Capital Conference in 2023-24 and reach the OHSAA DII District Final round in 2024-25. Already Westerville Central's leading scorer in girls basketball program history with a year to play, Martin was a first-team All-Ohio honoree and the OCC Player of the Year in 2024-25, after earning Special Mention All-Ohio honors as a sophomore in 2023-24. A three-time All-OCC selection, Martin also was selected to the 2024-25 Midwest Live All-Star Team, and is an All-OCC player on Westerville Central's volleyball team as well.
She's also excelled on the travel ball circuit for Ohio Impact, Ohio Future and Sports City Angels, and Martin also is a strong student, earning membership in the National Honor Society, making the honor roll every semester of high school, and earning an AP Certificate of Excellence in Calculus.
Sonday is a prolific scoring guard who's dominated girls basketball in the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations for four years, starting in eighth grade. In those four seasons, Sonday's put up over 2,000 points and earned four TAIAO All-State honors, while helping Westlake Academy, her homeschool team for her first four seasons, to the 2023 TAIAO state title, and earning MVP honors for her play during that run. Averaging 19.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for her high school career, Sonday will finish her high school career with the Dallas Thunder this winter before joining the Chargers next fall.
Sonday also has excelled on the travel ball scene with Texas Lonestar, and has been a strong student, earning membership in both the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society, while also being recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction.
