Hillsdale College senior
Emma Ruhlman is collecting one final award to conclude an impressive career at Hillsdale College.
Fittingly, it's one that honors both her athletic and academic talents.
The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan named Ruhlman to their 2026 College Women's Basketball Academic - Athletic Honor team in May. Ruhlman is one of five players from state of Michigan squads to earn the honor, joining athletes from Grand Valley State, Hope College, Albion College and Kalamazoo College on the list.
Ruhlman has a 3.83 cumulative GPA during her time at Hillsdale and is graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biochemistry this weekend. A multi-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, Emma also is the vice president of Hillsdale's Sigma Zeta math and science honorary chapter, while also holding membership in the Tri-Beta and Sigma Pi honoraries and earning a LAUREATES scholarship for research as well. For her academic accomplishments, Ruhlman also won the Hillsdale College President's Scholar-Athlete award.
As a player, Ruhlman was a two-year starter, a team captain as a senior, and a major contributor to back-to-back winning seasons and the team's 2025 NCAA DII Tournament bid. Ruhlman started all 27 games for the Chargers in 2025-26, posting career highs across the board, leading the team in rebounds with 6.8 per game, and setting a new single-season program record with a 94.6% free throw percentage.
Ruhlman is the first player in recent memory to win this award from Hillsdale College. She plans to attend medical school in the fall, and become a pediatrician.
