Box Score Despite several close matches, the Hillsdale College women's tennis team couldn't get past a tough Ferris State squad on Sunday in a 6-1 loss at home.
The Chargers only earned one point but were just four games and a third set tiebreak away from beating the Bulldogs in a very competitive match. Sophomore
Ane Dannhauser led the way for the Chargers, teaming with
Courtney Rittel for a hard-fought victory at No. 1 doubles and getting Hillsdale's only singles victory with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 victory over Ferris State's Ana Sofia Hernandez Ferrer.
Hillsdale was close in several other matches against a strong Bulldogs team, dropping a 7-5 decision despite a great effort at No. 3 doubles. Freshman
Briana Rees at No. 3 singles and junior
Megan Hackman at No. 6 singles both took their opponents to third sets and had a tight battle in both, coming up just short in the end.
Hillsdale is now 3-2 overall and will hit the road this coming weekend with matches at Purdue Northwest on Saturday and at Illinois-Springfield on Sunday looking to build momentum as March and G-MAC play approaches.
