Box Score The Hillsdale College women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season in dominant fashion on Saturday, rolling past visiting Lake Superior State in a 6-1 victory.
Hillsdale swept all three doubles matches by a 6-3 score, with the Chargers' No. 1 doubles team of
Ane Dannhauser and
Courtney Rittel, their No. 2 doubles team of
Libby McGivern and Brianna Rees, and their No. 3 doubles team of
Megan Hackman and
Isabella Spinazze all earning victories to claim the doubles point.
Dannhauser continued an undefeated start to the spring season in singles, play, beating Lake Superior State's Madeleine Whip in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Both of Hillsdale's freshmen won singles matches, with
Briana Rees downing the Lakers' Trinity Ly 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, and
Julia Zlateva cruising to to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over LSSU's Kyna Decruy at No. 5 singles.
Senior
Libby McGivern took care of business in set three to win the only match that went the distance, taking a 7-5, 5-7, 10-4 victory over LSSU's Tayla Brasier at No. 2 singles, and
Megan Hackman finished off the day with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Martina Oviedo at No. 6 singles as well for Hillsdale.
Now 1-1 overall, the Chargers host Edinboro tomorrow for another home match in the Biermann Athletic Center.
