Chargers Splain, Ruhlman earn CSC Academic All-District honors

2024-25 CSC Academic All-District Teams

It was a special season on the court for the Hillsdale College women's basketball team, as the Chargers had their most wins in a season since 2008-09 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018.

Off the court, Hillsdale excelled as usual in the classroom, as represented by two key contributors who earned 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Caitlin Splain is a three-time Academic All-District recipient, having previously won the award in 2022-23 and 2023-24, and wrapped up a stellar career earlier this month that saw her finish as the 15th leading scorer in program history with 1,182 points, and the program's career record holder for 3-pointers made with 253. Splain was one of the drivers of a stellar 2024-25 campaign, and a first-team All-G-MAC honoree as well. She's preparing to go to medical school in the fall after she graduates this spring.

Splain is joined on the team by Emma Ruhlman, a junior, who is being recognized for the first time. Ruhlman blossomed into a starter and an important player on the wing for the Chargers in the 2024-25 campaign, starting 20 games and putting in several big performances down the stretch to help Hillsdale reach the NCAA Tournament.

Fifteen All-Americans will be chosen from the All-District winners to be recognized as CSC Academic All-Americans, and the selections will be announced on April 16.
