2025-26 G-MAC Women's Basketball Awards
Two breakout stars for the Hillsdale College women's basketball team in the 2025-26 season have been rewarded for their efforts by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Juniors
Annalise Pietrzyk and
Savannah Smith both received first team All-G-MAC honors, the conference office announced on Friday afternoon. The pair are among just 10 players across the 13-team league to earn first team All-Conference honors for the 2025-26 season, and both are receiving All-Conference honors for the first time.
Both Pietrzyk and Smith took major steps forward for the Chargers in 2025-26. A bench player for the Chargers last season, Pietrzyk started all but one game for Hillsdale in the 2025-26 campaign, leading the Chargers in scoring, assists and steals. Long known as an elite shooter from distance, Pietrzyk continued to excel from beyond the 3-point line, hitting 63 shots and shooting 34.4% from beyond the arc even with a major increase in volume. On top of that performance, Pietrzyk proved herself to be a well-rounded athlete in a variety of areas, scoring on three levels, and setting career highs in virtually every stat.Â
Pietrzyk finished the season ranked eighth in the G-MAC in points per game, second in made 3-pointers, fifth in 3-point shooting percentage and 10th in assists per game. She had four games of 25 or more points on the season, including a career-high 30 points in a Jan. 5 60-53 home win over Walsh.Â
Smith, meanwhile, secured her spot on the first team with an awesome finish to the campaign. Returning from an injury that cut her 2024-25 season short, Smith got off to a slow start but picked up steam after the Christmas break. Ascending into the starting lineup for the Chargers for the final 11 games, Smith was lights out down the stretch, scoring in double figures in 9 of her final 12 outings with four games of 22 or more points. She set new career highs with a 27 point, 12 rebound double-double to lead Hillsdale to its first win over Ashland in 12 years on Jan. 24, and had 25 point games against Tiffin and Lake Erie in back-to-back weeks to help the Chargers pick up two more wins.
The junior from Liberty Township, Ohio finished the season second on the team in points, second in blocks and third in rebounds while shooting 49.2% from the field, the best mark among Hillsdale's rotation players. She also ranked 10th in the G-MAC in points per game.
Perhaps most exciting for the Chargers is that both Pietrzyk and Smith are slated to return for the 2026-27 season, along with three other players who started at least 16 games in 2025-26. Hillsdale will look to take advantage of that experience to improve on this season's 15-12 record and get back in the G-MAC title hunt next year.Â
