The Hillsdale College women's tennis team closed out the regular season with an impressive 4-0 victory over Ashland on Saturday, and honored seniors
Libby McGivern and
Courtney Rittel in their final home match.
McGivern and Rittel, partnered together in doubles, helped lead a Hillsdale sweep of the Eagles with a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Ane Dannhauser and
Briana Rees took a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles and
Isabella Spinazze and
Julia Zlateva rolled to a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles as the Chargers secured the doubles point.
The victory meant Hillsdale needed just three singles wins to clinch the match, and the Chargers got them in short order. Ana Dannhauser didn't drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Constanza Aranciba of Ashland at No. 1 singles, and
Libby McGivern completed an undefeated day in her final home match with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles.
Briana Rees got the clinching win at No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 victory to bring the match to a close, though Rittel was up a set at No. 4 singles as well for the Chargers when the match was ended.
The victory means Hillsdale closes the regular season 13-8 overall, and 7-2 in G-MAC play. The Chargers have the three seed in next week's G-MAC Tournament in Owensboro, Kentucky and will play sixth-seeded Thomas More in a quarterfinal match on Thursday, looking to advance to the semifinal round for the seventh straight season. Hillsdale won a 4-0 match over Thomas More on the road in the two teams' only meeting in 2025.
