With one of the biggest meets of the season looming next weekend, the Hillsdale College women's cross country team got a good race in locally, competing in the Siena Heights Invitational on Friday afternoon in nearby Adrian.
Hillsdale ran a partial squad, resting several of its top runners for the always-important Louisville Classic on Oct. 4, but the Chargers who did run had a solid day, helping Hillsdale place seventh out of 14 teams with some notable performances.
Sophomore
Victoria Stonebraker led the Chargers with a 24th place finish in 24:38.30, running a new personal best time for a 6K in the process, while freshman
Caroline Roberts was close behind in 27th place, just two seconds off her PR in 24:48.00.
Two more freshmen scored for Hillsdale, as
Mavis Banks placed 38th in 25:08.00 and
Taylor Klimp took 40th in 25:16.80. Junior
Megan Roberts was the fifth and final scorer for Hillsdale to cross the line, finishing 46th in 25:45.60.
Emilie Santoso placed 56th in 26:19.50 and
Whitney Wilkinson took 58th in 26:34.70 as well for Hillsdale.
Next up for the Chargers is the already-mentioned Louisville Classic, this coming Saturday, a loaded race with top teams from all NCAA Divisions and from all corners of the country. It's also Hillsdale's final tune-up before the G-MAC Championship meet, hosted by Northwood on Oct. 25.
