Scouting the Opposition
KWC: With an almost completely new cast of players from last season, the Panthers have kept themselves above .500 in the G-MAC and are looking to move up in the standings.
Â
The lone vet in the lineup is senior Fatih Huyuk, a key piece to last year's squad who averages 13 points and seven rebounds per game as one of KWC's top threats on the floor.
Â
To supplement Huyuk, head coach Drew Cooper hit the transfer portal hard, bringing in forward LaVonte Harris from UIndy and three Division I transfers, Jorge Sanchez-Ramos from LaSalle, Ke'Andre Jones from Lamar St. and Armandas Plintauskas from Merrimack, all of whom start and play major minutes for the Panthers.
Â
Marist transfer Caleb Mackrey leads the bench unit for KWC, but the Panthers aren't deep, as KWC's scoring drops off dramatically after its top six players. That makes an absence by Harris in the Panthers' last game on Saturday concerning -- KWC can ill afford to lose the high scoring forward's offensive contributions for a long period.
Â
The all-time series between KWC and Hillsdale is tight, with the Panthers holding an 11-9 edge. The two teams split a pair of meetings last year, with each team winning on their home court. KWC took the first meeting this season in an 88-81 contest in Owensboro.
Â
ODU: Until a recent slump, ODU had been the G-MAC's most surprising contender, surging in the standings. While recent losses have dimmed hopes of a regular season title, the Panthers still are in great shape to make the G-MAC Tournament for the first time in six years with two weeks left in the regular season.
          Â
Now in his third season at ODU, head coach Casey Kaufman has reshaped the team in the image of his old Malone squads, with three of the team's top four scorers having originally played for him there. That includes big men Caleb Conard and Elijah Hinton, who have formed one of the G-MAC's best post tandems this season.
          Â
Guards Terrance Broughton, also an ex-Pioneer, and Augusta transfer Carson Seemann help run the offense, while Columbus area native Derek Goodman is a handful at both ends as well. Logan Ryan is the top player off the bench, and Brady Moore, Zac Kimball and Kenny Scott round out the rotation.
          Â
ODU hangs its hat on its physical defense, giving up just 67.7 points per game, second-best in the G-MAC.
          Â
Hillsdale is 23-6 all-time against the Panthers, but had a 10-game winning streak against ODU snapped in a 76-71 home loss to the Panthers on Feb. 7.

Scouting the Chargers
With two weeks to play, the Chargers are on the outside looking in to make the G-MAC Tourney field, but Hillsdale has ample opportunity to play its way into a berth with four quality win opportunities left, and three of them coming at home
Hillsdale is a balanced and deep team offensively, led by senior point guard
Ashton Janowski. The team's leading scorer, Janowski is approaching 1,000 points for his career and shooting more efficiently from the floor than ever, with a career-high 34.4% shooting percentage from 3-point range.
Along with Janowski, the Chargers are also leaning heavily on a solid four-man rotation in the post. Junior
Caleb Glaser and sophomore
Connor Stonebraker had great months in January and both moved into the starting lineup, with Glaser leading the team in rebounding and ranking second in scoring and Stonebraker ranking third in points per game. Hillsdale also has gotten major contributions in the paint from
Garrett Bolte and
CJ Yarian, who bring different skillsets to the table that allow the Chargers to mix and match for the situation.
On the wing, freshman
Braylon Morris has become a key offensive threat, and moved into the starting lineup last week, averaging 8.5 points and shooting 41.8% from deep, while redshirt freshman
Tommy Morgan continues to make significant contributions at both ends of the floor in his first season of action as well.
Guard
Cole McWhinnie is posting career highs for the Chargers as well and is an important connector in the starting lineup for Hillsdale, while freshman
Paxton Giertz also has carved out a role off the bench on the perimeter.
Returning for his third season as head coach of Hillsdale College is
Keven Bradley, who has a 38-20 record so far leading the Chargers. Bradley is joined by two new assistants,
Jackson McLaughlin and
Braeden Proctor, for the 2025-26 campaign.

Other Notes
- Hillsdale ranked ninth in the most recent Great Midwest Point Rating System release on Feb. 14, narrowly behind Malone for eighth and just ahead of Cedarville in 10th. The Point Rating System will be used to determine the eight teams that make the G-MAC Tourney in March, and to seed the field. Currently, Hillsdale is on the outside looking in, but the Chargers have a good chance to overtake Malone and secure the last spot if it can get hot and stack wins in the final four games.
- As a senior captain and Hillsdale's only returning starter from last season, Ashton Janowski is linchpin player for the Chargers. He's been a key player again for the Chargers in 2025-26, leading Hillsdale with 11.3 points per game and burying a game-winning shot with one second to play in a 74-72 victory over Ohio Christian on Nov. 22. One area of growth for Janowski in his final season is 3-point shooting, as his 34.4% mark from beyond the arc is a significant improvement on his sophomore and junior seasons with the Chargers.
- Junior Caleb Glaser was inserted into the starting lineup on Jan. 3 against Malone and has proven that was a wise decision with a string of impressive performances, including a 19 point, nine rebound effort against Walsh on Jan. 5 and a career best 21-point, eight rebound performance at Kentucky Wesleyan on Jan. 8. Always a high-energy player throughout his career, Glaser currently ranks second on the team in scoring (11 points per game) and first in rebounding (5.9 per game). He has eight double-figure scoring games in his last 10 appearances for the Chargers.
- Freshman Braylon Morris has flashed serious potential off the bench for the Chargers to start his career at Hillsdale, with a pair of 20-plus point games in victories for the Chargers so far. Morris poured in 28 points in a double-OT win over Lake Erie on Dec. 6, and led Hillsdale with 22 points in a win over Truman State on Dec. 17. In both victories he shot over 70% from the floor and 50% from 3-point range. He's been hot recently, with four double-figure scoring contests in his last six games, and has moved into the starting lineup for the Chargers for the most recent four contests.
- Senior Cole McWhinnie is a veteran leader for the Chargers and is playing a key role on the perimeter for Hillsdale in his first season as a starter. McWhinnie is averaging a career high in points while also ranking first among Hillsdale players in assists (3.5 per game, sixth in the G-MAC) and steals (0.8 per game). He also ranks third in the G-MAC among all players in assist to turnover ratio (2.8). McWhinnie had a great game against Ohio Dominican on Saturday, Feb. 7, with a career high 17 points and four made 3-pointers.
- Redshirt sophomore Connor Stonebraker has had big games off the bench this season for the Chargers, scoring 23 points in a Jan. 15 win over Cedarville and adding 14 more in a Jan. 17 contest at Tiffin. A third year player who's seeing consistent action for the Chargers for the first time, Stonebraker is flashing his versatile skill set and scoring ability, currently ranking third for the Chargers with 9.6 points per game on the season. He moved into the starting lineup for the first time against Tiffin on Feb. 5 and finished with 14 points, and was Hillsdale's leading scorer this past Saturday at Ashland with 17.
- A veteran presence with many games under his belt, center CJ Yarian has made a career out of doing the dirty work down low for the Chargers. Yarian ranks second for Hillsdale with 5.6 rebounds per game in 2025-26, and has always been a willing and skilled passer in the post throughout his career, with an impressive 2.1 assists per game as well. Yarian also ranks third in the G-MAC averaging a block per game and is on track to surpass 500 rebounds for his career before his time at Hillsdale is over, an impressive milestone that only a few Chargers have reached.
