Chargers' Robert Thompson named to All-G-MAC team for third straight season

2025-26 G-MAC Men's Golf Awards

In just three seasons with the Hillsdale College men's golf team, Robert Thompson has left a legacy to remember.

He'll depart Hillsdale with one final award, as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference named him to its 2025-26 All-G-MAC men's golf team in a release on Friday afternoon.

Thompson's conference honor marks the third straight season he's received first team all-conference honors, making him the first player since the program restarted in 2014 to accomplish that feat at Hillsdale.

The junior earned that honor with a remarkable campaign in 2025-26, arguably the greatest in modern program history. Thompson won medalist honors at both the season-opening Malone-Glenmoor Invite and the Midwest Collegiate, becoming the first Hillsdale player to win multiple titles in the same season since the program restart in 2014. He also finished runner-up in a third event, the Doc Spragg Invitational, falling just short in a playoff of an unprecedented third title.

For the season, Thompson recorded eight top 10 finishes in 10 events played, showing remarkable consistency on the course as Hillsdale's top player. He finished the season strong, placing ninth at the G-MAC Championships on April 21 and tying for 10th at the NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional, finishing just one place off the best-ever performance by a Hillsdale golfer in an NCAA Regional.

Thompson spent much of the season in rarified air for a Chargers golfer, becoming the first Hillsdale individual to crack the top 10 nationally in the rankings during his torrid stretch in the fall. He finished the season ranked 60th and fifth in the region, rankings that stack up with the best players in program history.

Thompson graduated this spring, finishing his degree at Hillsdale in three years, and will pursue graduate school opportunities this fall.
